The Plight of the Coporate Geek
Show me any corporate IS center, and I will tell you right away who runs the show--the Geeks or the Suits. Just let me take a look at the server room and the offices of the administrators:
As you already know, the web is world wide phenomenon, a fact which we Americans are particularly good at taking for granted. This is a personal note to let you know that we've recently finished a few projects here at Proteron which we think are worthy of mention, though admittedly, of international interest.
Localizations of GoMac 1.5x have now been completed for the following languages:
German localization has been finished by Patrik Bernhard. Italian translation of GoMac was completed in record time by Pierluigi Covarelli. Swedish version was made with assistance from Erik Olofsson. And the French localization is by Alain Goubault de Brugiere.
Act2 is now handling translation and distribution of GoMac 1.5 in Japan. Korean, Finnish and Arabian translations of GoMac are available but somewhat less up-to-date.
All localizations are currently available for download at:
<http://www.proteron.com/gomac/intl.shtml>
Now that we've finished these little projects for our overseas friends, we shall return to development on all the goodies we have planned for GoMac 1.6, LiteSwitch 1.5 and FMProTuner 2.0. Back to work!

I need a legal billing & accounting software solution that is seamlessly integrated, other than TimeSlips & MYOB. My client is already using the latest version of TimeSlips & it's a "dog" on the Mac. Tech support for this company has been abysmal! My client is ready to go to the "dark side" for a solution abandoning all 16 Macs & their AppleShare server! HELP!!! They _want_ to keep their Macs but if they can't find an easy & seamless solution .... they may defect.
I know there are lawyers out there using the Mac .... what are you using?
All replies can be sent to me privately.

*** SPECIAL EVANGELISTA OFFER! Mention the Evangelist in the comments section of our online order form, and we'll take $2.00 off your order! This offer expires two weeks after this is posted to the Evangelist. ***
Desktop Vistas is an exclusive collection of 30 hi-resolution desktop pictures featuring the work of photographer Steven Fuchs. Some of Steve's earlier work is displayed on his "Steve's Free DTP" website <http://www.steveweb.com/FreeDTP/>. With a varied selection of natural images from Europe as well as the US, the CD presents each of the images in full 32 bit color in five popular resolutions, for best possible display.
Desktop Vistas is a hybrid CD, and works on both Macs and PCs, so those of you who are forced to use a PC at work can easily use the same desktop images on both systems! Mac users will see only the Mac format images, and PC users will see only the PC images. Mac images are offered in PICT format, ready for use with the Desktop Pictures control panel in OS 8, or with a third party desktop picture utility such as Francois Pottier's popular shareware program, Decor. PC images are in BMP format, ready for use with the Windows control panel.
Included as a special bonus for Mac users is a set of three new and exclusive "Desktop Consoles" by Layne Karkruff of Blue Sky Heart Graphics. Desktop Consoles are unique and eye-catching desktop pictures produced by BSHG that include special docking areas on the desktop for icons, popup folder tabs, and the control strip. BSHG produces a series of Desktop Consoles available as shareware from their website <http://www.blueskyheart.com/>. The "Desktop Consoles Special Edition" series, based on images by Steve Fuchs, is available only on the Desktop Vistas CD.
Information on Desktop Vistas, as well as SiteLink's other popular CDROMs, is available at <http://sitelink.net/cdInfo.shtml>. Thumbnail previews as well as an image sampler of all the images is also available online. All of SiteLink's CDs are under $10, with significant bulk discounts available to user groups.

The Mac gets bigger, virtually.
As we all sit back and watch Apple try to reinvent itself (for indeed, that's exactly what Jobs is trying to do) there are some pretty fascinating little blips on the radar screen that force me to wonder exactly what is going on. And like a radioman on a sub, I've got to figure out what that blip means. - More:
