This request is from:

Fred Showker, <showker@user-groups.com>

The Mac User Group Directory is nearing completion, but we still need
help.

Of the 2,500 Mac user group addresses currently being tested by our
volunteers nearly 50% have moved or are no longer around. Failure rates
on email addresses run nearly 40%.

Help Mac users everywhere find a user group in their area. Continue the
Mac ... continue the Mac User Group tradition !

Thank to everyone.

P&V, <pnv@mindspring.com>

Here's a little anecdote, you might find interesting...

We're still selling a lot of iMacs at CompUSA. An IBM Rep. was in the
store the other day. He had to fill out a report regarding the various
computers we carry. One of the questions he asked me was, "what do you
think the best selling PC has been, in the last two weeks?". Without
hesitation I said, "the iMac". His jaw hit the floor! He asked me, "why
do you think it's selling so well?". "Because it's fast, simple and well
priced". He then asked me,"how many do you think you've sold in the last
two weeks?". I said, "well over 80". His jaw hit the floor again! After
he left, I noticed that all the IBM's had new demos running on them.
Guess what kind of computers were shown in the demos? And guess what kind
of computers made those demos? Yup, Big Blue uses Macs to make their
demos. I bet the Rep, didn't even realize this.

Needless to say, this little exchange made my day.

"I am as concerned as the next woman about the global recession, but what
I want, what I really really want is one of those new curvy, sexy iMac
computers - God, they're gorgeous."

SCHOOL DISTRICTS CAN SAVE SUBSTANTIAL MONEY WITH THE MAC

Numerous educators have contacted me about WebPrint Plus. They have
suggested that I get the word out about how *WEBPRINT PLUS CAN SAVE
SCHOOL DISTRICTS THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS PER YEAR* by significantly reducing
the amount of paper and ink/toner that students use. Additionally,
WebPrint Plus can assist students in being more productive when working
on their computers.

Apparently, even when students need only a sentence, paragraph, or a page
of information to be printed, they generally print the entire document.
In part, this is because -- until now -- there was no quick and easy way
to print only the part of the document that the student needed.

Webprint Plus allows a student -- in almost any program -- to easily
print, save, or edit a word, sentence, paragraph, or page of a document
without having to print a single unecessary character. In fact, when
printing from a web browser, even wasteful graphics are eliminated from
the printed output.

Because WebPrint Plus is so easy to use, even a student who is just
beginning to use a Mac can quickly take advantage of all of WebPrint's
features. These features not only save the school district a substantial
amount of money, they also enhance the student's ability to be productive
when doing research and other school work.

For example, with WebPrint Plus a student can annotate printed -- or
saved -- information for added clarity or for future reference; a student
can time-date stamp printed or saved information for keeping track of the
latest version of researched materials -- or a project under development;
and a student can group non-contiguous data for easy tracking and
organization.

Since WebPrint Plus has minimal system requirements, it can be used on
either the latest systems available from Apple or systems dating back to
a 68020 processor and OS 7.0.

Additional information and a free demomstration version of WebPrint Plus
are available at <http://www.kagi.com/MacEase>. Registering a single copy
of WebPrint Plus costs only $15. Site licensing inquiries may be sent to
me at <steve@macease.com>.

The Mac is the best computer for the education market -- and now it's
even more economical to work with!

Subject: ?? - Pitch Tracking Software

This request is from:

Paul Schreiber, <pjschrei@undergrad.math.uwaterloo.ca>

I am looking for software to track pitches over the course of a baseball
game. If anyone knows of any software that does this, it would be greatly
appreciated.

If you can find some, I'll be able to bring my PowerBook along and have
someone do the stuff that way instead of by hand.

If you're interested in baseball stats in general, give me a shout, too.
