Diane M. Ross, <dross@inetarena.com>
I would like to announce the Unofficial Claris Emailer and EmailTools Page... Tips, Tutorials and Highlights.
I have been collecting some of the best tips from Emailer-talk and EmailTools-talk and have put them in an organized format for finding answers. Since many of the old stalwarts are no longer on the Emailer-talk list, this will hopefully archive the great advice that has been given.
This project is my expression of appreciation for everything I have learned and enjoy about Emailer and EmailTools. I hope everyone will find this a useful addition to the FAQs.
Check it out! <http://www.macemail.com/emailer/>

This announcement is from:
kelly, <kelly@recallusa.com>
Today Colorado Springs-based software developer, Total Recall, Inc., announced a HFS to HFS plus conversion utility called SpaceMaker. The new product, shipping now, reclaims unused disk space by converting Mac OS Standard format disks to Mac OS Extended format. SpaceMaker converts your disks to Mac OS Extended format without requiring a full backup of your hard disk before converting. SpaceMaker is easy-to-use, safe and reliable.
Unlike the other HFS conversion program, SpaceMaker thoroughly analyzes disk for errors and inconsistencies and makes recommendations for conversion based on disk characteristics. SpaceMaker's features and performance are unmatched.
SpaceMaker is $24.95 and can be purchased online or by calling (800) 743-0566. For more information, contact Joe Vesely, Software Product Manager, at (719) 380-1616. A demo of SpaceMaker can be downloaded online by visiting:
<http://www.spacemaker.recallusa.com>
This demonstration copy lets you calculate exactly how much disk space you will save by converting your disk.

This tidbit is from:
Charlie Winchcombe, <visy.it@c031.aone.net.au>
In stark contrast to a number of reports from friends and some 'listas about the effort required to get their Macs talking to their banks (VirtualPC - you're kidding right?) I've just had a really good experience with my local bank down here in Australia/New Zealand - the ANZ Bank.
<http://www.anz.com/pcbank/pcbintro.asp>
Not only do they openly support Mac's (like, right on the front page of their 'Getting Started' section once you've signed up!) they actually distinguish between System 7.x and Systems 8.0/8.1 AND even more amazing they provide 128-bit encryption clients for those of us in the rest of the world!
Short aside - this whole strong encryption argument is getting old fast to people outside the USA... if the US government keeps being unreasonable about it people are just going to find alternatives at the expense of US products. The encryption product the ANZ is using is Swiss. Point made?
Interestingly they only support Netscape under 8.x - some sort of weird bug with IE I was told...
Given the problems so many of my friends have had with other banks out here I thought they deserved some visibility for openly demonstrating that even a bank can understand that the Internet is an OPEN network - not just a big mess made up of Microsoft users.
