Announcing the New Age of Pirates!

Back in the days of the development of the Macintosh, Steve Jobs had a
saying at Apple Computer: "Why join the navy when you can be a pirate?

He even realized this concept by actually flying a Jolly Roger over the
Macintosh development building on the Apple campus.

Well, in commemoration of that event in that long-ago age, and in
celebration of the recent resurgence of that ol devilish glint in the
eyes of Macintosh users everywhere, we here at The Ultimate Flag Source
are announcing a special offer on PIRATE FLAGS for EvangeListas!

The Ultimate Flag Source is an online flag store, and is designed and
built entirely on Macintoshes (in fact, several over the last year, from
an old Centris to my current 9600/300 with 704 megs of RAM), and it owes
its very life to the computer for the rest of us. So, we decided to show
some appreciation by offering EvangeListas (and your friends, too, if
they ask nice) a discount of15%, just for mentioning the EvangeList when
you order. In fact, bump that discount up to 20% if you order two or
more. And these discounts are off of what are already some of the best
prices on the Internet.

The Ultimate Flag Source offers flags of countries, states, historical,
military, and novelty/alternative. And we specialize in pirate flags. In
fact, we currently have three different designs, so you can pick the one
that suits you best for your own particular brand of piracy!

Find the New Age of Pirates special section at:

<http://www.ultimateflags.com>

Remember: mention the EvangeList to receive your discount!

AAHHR!

The MacNN Review <http://www.macnn.com/thereview/> has a posted a
collection of 4 MacOS X "posters" created by Bob Suh. Visit The Review to
see thumbnails of the images and download the collection (which make
great desktop pictures). On an ambitious note, if the demand is high
enough we might roll out a limited print of these as actual posters! :)

This follow-up message is from:

Jan Borchers, <jan@tk.uni-linz.ac.at>

I'm sorry! I underestimated the demand for the GISTICS report. As my poor
old Mac was practically mangled with connection requests to download the
report, I set up a second site. You can now get the report directly via
ftp from

<ftp://mikasa.tk.uni-linz.ac.at/pub/jan/ROI-TechBrief4.8-AT.pdf.sit.hqx>

Please use a real ftp client like Fetch for downloading (Text transfer
mode). This is more reliable than using Netscape or other browsers.

Thanks for your patience, and let me know if the report helps you!

TD (Think Different), ;-)

My neighbor is a corporate sales account manager with the top rated
PC/Mac mail order company. She told me that the last three weeks she has
been selling nothing but Apple computers! She added that the new Apple
owners were so awed by the G3's and as a result were returning to order
more!!! She seemed absolutely suprised when a "rock group" ordered three
G3's to use on tour to run all their sound and lighting equipment.
Imagine that! :-)

I gotta brag about this to someone.

I was digging around an engineering file archive I wrote off in 1989--two
years after I got the Mac Plus I used to write the report. I extracted
the sketches I needed, but I'd done them with the paint module of
SuperPaint 2.0. Remember SuperPaint? If not just drag a copy onto your
hard disk, double-click on a SuperPaint document and take a look. My 9
year old sketch done on a long gone 11 year old Mac Plus boots without a
hiccup from 1989 vintage software running under MacOS 8.0 on my Power
Computing PTP250. Report came up clean as though I'd archived it
yesterday. If I'd bought that cheap 286 machine I was thinking about at
the time, my report would have been as inaccessible as the far side of
the moon.
