I work at a Special Ed Center in Ohio and we are setting up a braille production center. We have Duxbury Software and a Porta Thiel Embosser. I have no problem with the Duxbury, the problem is getting the embosser to work with my Power Macintosh Computer. I am so frustrated, I have talked to Duxbury People, Indepent LIving Aids who was the distributor for the embosser, my computer technician, etc., and am getting nowhere. I have been told the embosser will only work with an ImageWriter One cable, etc., etc. I have tried all to no avail. I am looking for a user of this equipment to correspond with or to call that might be able to help me. No one wants to help when a Macintosh is concerned. Would you hapen to know of anyone who is using this equipment that might be able to help me. My work email is <wcoserrc@bright.net>. I would appreciate any suggestions or direction you might be able to give me. Thank you for your time.

Bob Lewis's "IS Survival Guide" column in the Feb. 16 InfoWorld is titled, "Throwing Windows off the desktop is too risky, but you can preserve some OS choice."
The basic thrust of the article is that, when it comes to Internet services, one OS is basically just as good as the next, but almost anything is better than Windows NT. The Mac OS is not mentioned per se, but the overall philosophy of the article is that OS choice is a good thing; "standardizing" on wintel is not.

Bill Vlahos, a network engineer at a major space exploration company in southern California and founder of the San Gabriel Valley Macintosh Users Group, and Don Crabb, a Syndicated Computer Columnist and Computer Scientist at The University of Chicago, have joined forces to produce a new Mac enthusiasts Website, MacItWorks, found at <http://www.MacItWorks.com>
The purpose of the site is simple: to promote the Mac via the slogan, Macintosh, It Just Works!, a slogan that Bill and Don believe focuses a clear expression of why Macs are the best computers to use and buy. As noted on the site, "Apple has challenged us to 'Think Different.' Apple's image needs to be polished, and the ads are a good start. However, this, alone, is not enough. We need to focus on the product and we need to do it now. Apple has a good start with it's snail Pentium ad - where they state the PowerPC chip is up to twice as fast as the fastest Pentium."
This is grass roots campaign from Macintosh users. Put it on your Web page or in brochures. Link back here if you want. Tell people that, "It's a Macintosh, It Just Works!"
The site offers more reasons to go Mac, and a slew of Macintosh, It Just Works! graphics submitted by Mac users that you can use on your own sites as freely as you like, plus lots of Mac-specific links, too. Put the logo everywhere and use the slogan.

Most TPC providers place reasonable limits on the number of faxes they will deliver, so this is not a way to send a message to every member of congress. Delivery is reasonably reliable to most TPC locations around the world, but it is not 100% guaranteed. You can expect confirmation of delivery by email, and perhaps an advertisement on the cover sheet. Plain emails are printed as text, but postscript MIME attachments can be sent as well for that 'signed letter' look. Tim Humphrey announced today the release of Mousigator, a new shareware cursor focusing extension.
As stated above Mousigator is a system extension that implements cursor focusing for the MacOS. Cursor focusing, commonly referred to as X-Mouse on other computer systems, enables you to focus a window, activate it, by moving the cursor on top of the window; you don't have to click. This can be useful to help prevent repetitive stress injuries, or it can just be plain fun!
Mousigator is more than just an implementation though as it has many useful, and fun, features. Perhaps the most obvious feature is the ability to see which window you're about to focus. Mousigator highlights the window to be focused before focusing it, you don't have to guess which window will be focused. In addition, Mousigator focuses nearly all windows, including floating windows.
Mousigator can also help make your computing more convenient. An example: If you ever use the Stickies application a lot then you know that clicking in a note with highlighted text causes the highlighting to be removed -- annoying if you want to copy the web address for a new shareware product. Mousigator alleviates this annoyance by allowing you to just point to the note to activate it; the highlighting will still be intact. And via window lingering you can safely open windows without worry that Mousigator will focus out the new front window.

Thanks to the Evangelist we received many requests for information and several sales of our product, Dominion ID. Each Dominion ID system we sell is one less Mac user that has to use a PC to print photo ID badges.
A common theme of the responses were people referring us to other people. We would like to extend our thanks to them, (you know who your are) and take it one step further.
Make some buck$ and evangelize too.
We will pay a finders fee of $100 US to anyone who refers us to a business or school and that business or school purchases a system. This fee can be a donation to your favorite charity, a scholarship fund or a direct payment to you.
A few requirements first...
The early bird gets the worm. The first person to make the referral on a specific lead is the only one able to receive the fee.
Once per referral. If the customer purchases 2 or more systems the referral still pays $100. It's a one time deal per referral.
We want to use your name. When introducing ourselves to a referral, we will use your name and tell them you referred us. If you are not comfortable with that, let us know.
The information. We need your name, address, phone and e-mail and the same information for your referral. We will put you on our mailing list so you can be updated when things change or the referral purchases a system.

"I tried to have a discussion with my publication design and graphics teacher as to why we are not learning on mac's...blah, blah, blah. She got angry with me, and said that all of my information was ignorant and incorrect and that mac's are NOT being used that much ANYWHERE. needless to say, I am on her bad side now and she uses me as a butt of her class jokes."
Does anyone have a fairly large updated definitive list of magazines and publishing houses or any other companies that use Macs? I think we need to put this caustic anti-mac bigot in her place.
From what I know, if these students are graduating with their teacher's attitude, their careers will be hindered because they are not trained on the proper machine.
Anyway, any help will be appreciated.
