This job announcement is from:

Neil Ticktin, <ceo@xplain.com>

Are you a technical person who would also like to work some on the
marketing side. We may have a position for you! Technical understanding
is a must, but marketing experience is not necessary.

Who are we?

Our company name is Xplain Corporation. We publish MacTech Magazine --
for Macintosh programmers and developers -- and, we operate a mail order
company called Developer Depot which sells tools, books and utilities to
developers.

We have a long standing, excellent reputation in the Mac developer
marketplace and we're growing like crazy. Today, we have international
resellers around the world, ship to 64 countries, and have nearly 40,000
readers worldwide including those who read MacTech Japan (our fully
localized Japanese version).

We're a small, high-growth, high-energy business located in Westlake
Village (next to Thousand Oaks) about 30 min Northwest of West Los
Angeles. Work environment is important to us and we like to promote from
within. If you are looking for a place to grow, this is it.

What are we hiring for?

We're in the process of building our technical marketing department.
Currently, we are in need of someone with enough technical background to
understand what products do and how they related to one another. This
person should have enough technical background to work on minor technical
projects.

The primary focus of this position will be in support of our marketing
efforts. This includes, but is not limited to:

* researching products for Developer Depot * working on descriptions of
products for the catalog * working with vendors to understand upcoming
products * working with marketing communications to make sure that our
marketing efforts are technically accurate * looking for how different
products may work together (e.g., bundles) * looking for new products for
us to carry in the Depot * customer service support for Developer Depot
customers * minor technical projects (e.g., building FileMaker databases)
* help in brainstorming for ads, marketing efforts, etc...

Qualifications:

Must have baseline understanding of technical (e.g., programming)
concepts -- enough to be able to read documentation and use the products
in our product line. Marketing experience a plus. Must be detail oriented
(e.g., anal).

Duties & Responsibilities:

Aside from what was described above, duties vary according to experience.
There are trade shows that we attend (e.g., Macworld, WWDC, MacHack,
etc...). If you are a "geek" and want to be doing marketing -- this is
the place for you.

Salary: According to experience/skill set

When to Apply: ASAP

Interested? Send an updated cover letter and resume via email to Andrea
Sniderman <pres@xplain.com>. If email is not a good option for you, send
the letter/resume via fax to: (310) 553-4313. Please include any salary
requirements that you may have. No phone calls please.

You need to talk to your local admin -- it's not coming from my site. It
seems something else is looping.

If you'd like more information about garage.com, our Web site now has it.

The site is at:

I'm just tired of having to explain to people that we don't know how to
fix Toyota transmissions and that we don't sell aluminum siding! :-)

Thanks!

Guy
