NEW 24639 Power Macintosh G3, iMac: Slow File Sharing in Sleep Mode

I have a Power Macintosh G3 and an iMac computer running Mac OS 8.1.
Occasionally, I share files from my computer with other people on my
Ethernet network using File Sharing. Recently, I have noticed that
when my computer is in sleep mode, files seem to copy more slowly
across our network.

How can I make files copy more quicky to and from my computer while
it is asleep?
