MacA&D 6.2 from Excel Software supports system analysis, requirements specification, software design, and code generation for a wide range of software engineering methods. Version 6.2 adds a new contents view for diagram editors, enhanced color support, and automated inheritance graphs for object-oriented designs. Mathemaesthetics has released a new version of Resorcerer, a PowerPC native resource editor. InstallerMaker 5.0 from Aladdin Systems supports hierarchical packages and sub-level assignments. It also separates packages by hierarchy for custom installations, assigning conditions, actions, and packages to files and folders deep within the installer archive. Aladdin Systems also announced a "Just StuffIt Developers Program" for shareware and freeware developers. On June 20, Apple updated the Rhapsody frequently asked questions (FAQ) web site.
AAA+ Software has just released Joy Services 1.0 for Rhapsody Developer Release 2. Using this free tool, you can implement short Joy scripts, and corresponding menu items are added to Rhapsody's Services menu. The alpha version of OpenBase 6.0 can insert over 1,000 records per second and maintains this speed well beyond a million records per table (on a 266-MHz G3 Power Macintosh computer running Rhapsody DR2). Apple announced that it has filed a fraud suit against four companies previously authorized to provide warranty service and repairs on Apple hardware and peripheral equipment. The suit contends that four former Apple service providers combined to defraud Apple of payment for service and repair work that was never performed, and to ship replacement parts based upon false claims.
Apple is extending its Power/Compatibility promotion through August 16. During this promotion, purchasers of Power Macintosh G3 computers receive a free bonus of either Connectix Virtual PC 2.0 (with Windows 95) or an extra 32 MB of memory.

MAGMA is offering three- and seven-slot PCI expansion systems for Apple's G3 series of PowerBook computers. A MAGMA PCI expansion system adds PCI slots in a separate desktop or rack-mount enclosure. NewMedia magazine announced its sixth annual NewMedia INVISION 98 Awards event with a call for entries. INVISION 98 recognizes the best digitally created content in more than 40 categories, and is acknowledged as the most prestigious competition for professionals in the digital media marketplace. In its thirteenth year, MacHack convened one minute after midnight on June 20 for another solid 72 hours of hacking, networking, and other worthy endeavors (often involving little or no sleep). The title of "Best Hack" went to "asciiMac," a retro-hack that renders an entire screen in ASCII art in real time. The MacHack CD and winning hacks will eventually be available through these web sites.

This is the first time that both of these algorithms have been made available on a single computer platform.
