Xplain Corporation, the publisher of MacTech Magazine announced that it is shipping the latest release of the MacTech CD-ROM, Volumes 1-13. The new CD includes the first release of the THINK Reference Compiler.It includes every article published in MacTech (almost 1800 articles), as well as the entire history of Apple's develop technical journal (29 issues). All in all, nearly 5 linear feet of printed documentation! Although the CD has a list price of US$ 129, you can get it at the introductory price of US$ 99 until July 31.

Apple has released updates to two of its popular software products, SerialDMA and Disk Copy.
SerialDMA 2.1 fixes an incompatibility that prevents certain serial devices, such as digital cameras, from establishing an initial connection.

TipTop Software, Inc. has announced release 5.1 of the Objective-Everything development environment for YellowBox (MacOS X Server/ a.k.a Rhapsody, MacOS X, and Windows). Objective-Everything is a rapid application development and scripting environment. It provides true programming language independence. Objective-Everything is Carbon-ready and lets you leverage the Carbon API from any of the Objective languages. Developer licenses are FREE for educational use, for non-commercial use, and even for commercial use by and for companies with less than US $1 million in annual revenue. Otherwise, licenses are US$ 349 per developer. TipTop also offers a special introductory discount through August 31.

HyperLock (formerly Planet Graphics) has introduced new versions of its software products that run on QuickTime3. Hyperlock designs encrypted multimedia gateway technology that links prerecorded CD-ROM and DVD video and audio with real-time information on the Internet. HyperCD and HyperDVD, which work on top of QuickTime on Mac OS and PC platforms, are used by companies such as Atlantic Records, BMG Online, Capitol Records and Warner Brothers Online to let users download high-quality video and audio clips from their web sites.

Apple Computer announced a profit of US$ 101 million, or $.65 per diluted share for its fiscal 1998 third quarter, which ended June 26, 1998. These results compare to a profit of US$ 55 million, or $.38 per diluted share, in the quarter ending March 1998.
