The MRJ Software Development Kit (SDK) is a set of Java development tools for use with Mac OS Runtime for Java (MRJ), Apple's Java execution environment. This release includes updated versions of the Sun JDK tools and JBindery. The user interface in JBindery has been simplified, making it easier to package stand-alone applications. Also included are MPW scripts, an MPW tool that gives you access to some of the JDK tools, and SimpleRunner, a JManager 2.0 code example derived from the Apple Applet Runner.
Visaj 2.0 is Imperial Software Technology's major new release of its visual application builder for Java. Written entirely in Java, Visaj 2.0 runs on most platforms, including UNIX, Windows NT, Windows 95, and Mac OS. It incorporates an extensive level of support for Sun's Java Foundation Class (JFC) Swing components, a new set of layout editors, an image editor, graphical "hot-wiring" of events, and JavaBean serialization. http://www.ist.co.uk

More than 3,000 customers have purchased the latest version of Apple's application server software -- WebObjects 3.5, a tool for building and deploying Internet-based application solutions. Leading organizations, such as Adobe Systems, Standard & Poor's, and the U.S. Department of Defense, are using WebObjects to create powerful Internet, e-commerce, human resources, and asset-management applications. Apple has announced that WebObjects 4.0, expected to be released later this year, will debut on Apple PowerPC processor-based computers, in addition to the currently supported Windows and UNIX platforms.
WebTen 2.1 is Tenon Intersystems' upgrade to its industrial-strength, Apache-based web server for Power Macintosh computers. WebTen 2.1 can sustain 1,000 hits per second and is 100 percent compatible with HTTP 1.1. It includes DNS, multihoming (for uploading web content one virtual host at a time), NFS (for offloading content), and SSL 3.0 (for supporting e-commerce with multiple secure certificates on a single machine). http://www.tenon.com/products/webten/
