AppleShare IP 6.0 is a significant upgrade to Apple's award-winning Mac OS server software and file-server suite. On August 24, a trial version of Apple Network Assistant 3.5 was released. Apple Network Assistant 3.5 makes it easy to manage a group of networked Mac OS-based computers from a central location over TCP/IP and AppleTalk networks. The Power Macintosh 4400 Update contains two patches for Mac OS 8.1. The first patch corrects a memory corruption problem (associated with the Mac OS Extended Format, or HFS+) that can prevent a system from restarting after it's been upgraded to Mac OS 8.1. Symantec, a maker of antivirus software, has spotted a Java virus that replicates itself across any machine running the Java Virtual Machine. Web Design 101 from Macromedia is a new educational tool suite for institutions that offer web design courses.
