• Since 1990, The Rhodes Men's Cross Country team has been the team to beat in the Division III Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. Their dominance in this conference is apparent through their victories at the SCAC Championships for the past six years. Coached by Robert Shankman, Rhodes' current team has a strong combination of seasoned veterans and talented freshman. This year's runners recently added their sixth straight victory in the SCAC Championships with a decisive win over Centre. Led by freshman Dave Thomasson (2nd overall), the Lynx placed five runners in the top ten. The other varsity members of the team are Brendan Minihan (Jr. - 5th), Mike Wottle (Fr. - 6th), Rob Cooksey (Fr. - 7th), Grant Gandy (Fr. - 10th), Myles Bogner (Sr. - 15th), and
    Mike Rosolino (Sr. - 17th).

  • The Lynx men finished up the season at the NCAA Division III Regional meet, which was held on our own turf at Shelby Farms here in Memphis. Ranked among the three top places in our region (along with W&L and Emory), the Lynx went into the meet with the hopes of getting a trip to Nationals. Unfortunately, with a few runners having off days, we had to settle for a respectable third place finish behind the two previously mentioned teams. Next year, however, the Lynx will be returning four of the top five and are in the process of recruiting some promising freshman and transfers.

  • The Lynx women had an equally impressive season this year. In only their fourth year of existence, the women's team entered the season seeking their first conference championship. With very strong showings in the regular season, the women seemed to be well on their way to the vistory when they stepped onto this year's conference course at Hendrix. Despite losing one of their top runners with only a few weeks left in the season, the rest of the women stepped up to the challenge and showed the rest of the SCAC that the Rhodes team, both men and women, were a force to be reckoned with. After winning the conference meet, the women set their sights on the Regional Championship. As with the men, they entered the meet seeded in the top few teams in the region. With an especially strong performance from Nicole Horvath (Jr. - 5th) the women finished their season with on a great note with a 2nd place finish behind Emory University. Also putting in great performances were Emily Ferguson (Fr. - 16th), Billie Ann Snodgrass (Sr. - 18th), Erin Riches (Fr. - 19th), Megan Emery (Fr. - 37th), Joy Johnson (Fr. - 47th), and Jennifer Farringer ( Sr. - 65th ). Nicole Horvath's fifth place finish earned her a trip to the National Championships, where she battled with the flu, but still managed to finish in a respectable placement.
