Macintosh System 6

Control panels in Systems 6 and earlier appear in a dedicated control panel window as shown above. The familiar "general" controls are shown here. Several control panels which controlled various functions of the Macintosh OS can be adjusted in this window. Shareware and freeware control panels such as Super Clock enable users to customize their System 6 Macs. Adobe offered their ATM software as a control panel to smooth postscript type on the screen.

Shown above are the basic components of early Macintosh system folders. Having a basic system and finder loaded onto a floppy disc enabled early Macs to be booted and used from a floppy disc. You can read more about how to make a Macintosh boot disc by going to the this link.
