Users Groups File

Index
Icon for the Users Groups file is shown below. The default name for this file is 'Lollipop Groups', however it may have any name. You may also have more than one Groups file.

The Users Groups file is where Lollipop stores the names of the groups and control information for news group you have subscribed to. An example is shown below.

The groups file may be read and modified by any good text editor (e.g. BBEdit Lite).

Each line contain information for one group:

You can modify this file using a text editor.

Use care when making changes to this file any error will result in the line being removed from the file. Actually the file is read, edited, stored in memory, updated, then the file is overwritten with data as stored in memory. (this may change in later version).

Comments are not allowed. (see above) They will generate an error and will be removed.

You may find it more convenient to add groups(lines) manually than subscribing online. When ;you do this you will not know the messages number, so just key in the group name followed by the colon, the = is optional. (see second line in example).

Not all ISP are equal -- meaning -- a message's number on one server may (will) not be the same for the same message on another server. An ISP may not carry some news group.
