Running Lollipop

When Lollipop is run in the batch mode new messages are downloading then quits.

I use Mail Server scheduler to run Lollipop in the unattended - batch mode. My schedule is as below.

The application 'INet Run' is an AppleScript saved as an application. The script is shown below. In order to use this script you must have the MacPPP Control, by Mark Alldritt, installed.

The Connection Script open my dial up connection, download Email, up/download news, exchange messages with Spider Island BBS. It does NOT disconnect from the dial up connection, I have FreePPP set to disconnect after 10 minutes of inactivity. In checking my account with my ISP during the month of May 1997 I was connect about 35 hours.

You should also note that Lollipop is started up by selecting the groups file. If you have problems in the area of the script get into script editor and turn on record and let it record you doing the action - like double-clicking on the groups file ICON.

I have had problems with AppleScript 'hang' the system about every 4 or 5 days. However as this is being typed (June 10, 97) the system has been running over 7 days. Also during that 7 days I have also run 'INet' several time by double-clicking it. During this time I'm sure Lollipop has run over 50 times and process several thousand messages.

Lollipop export and import messages from the folder as specified in the preferences.

After Lollipop closes the incoming message file Mail Server will 'Retrieve Incoming Messages' form the Gateway. This may start before Lollipop is done with the next file.

If you which see Mail Server Import or Export messages see the Mail Server's 'Server' menu. These things are normally done automatically but can be selected by menu.
