     Bob Wright: When I add access groups to realms, it would be nice
     to select more than one at a time to add to the realm. Is this
     possible already? (shift-clicking -- a standard feature in the OS
     -- does not work) :(

     Rusty Tucker: no, but you might be able to do it more quickly
     editing the text directly

     Rusty Tucker: then you can use copy and paste

     Bob Wright: editing the realm file?

     Rusty Tucker: yes, its just a tab delimited text file

     Rusty Tucker: www-realms.config

     Bob Wright: ok, so that means typing all of the access groups
     twice or more. :/

     Rusty Tucker: hmm, maybe its better to stick with the GUI to do it

     Bob Wright: but the GUI means only one at a time?

     Rusty Tucker: yes. just one at a time

     Bob Wright: RT: Never get me wrong...I LOVE TF....but I always ask
     questions that would make the use of TF easier for me. I never
     take it personally or look down at TF if my requests can not be
     made :)

     Rusty Tucker: I didn't consider a site with 100 access groups at
     the time :)

     Bob Wright: well, just look at it like this: for a school system,
     each school needs access for teachers, students, librarians and
     admin. If you have 30 schools that means 120 access groups

     Bob Wright: so when I create a realm for school A, I want to say
     "add these four access groups to that realm" without having to say
     "add this one, now add this, now add this one, and finally add
     this one" :)

     Rusty Tucker: right, that makes sense

     Bob Wright: maybe you have a better way for me to set up my access
     groups?

     Bob Wright: my first year with TF, I tried using just the schools
     as the access group -- 30 -- but then I could not shield the
     teacher "stuff" from the students "stuff"

     Rusty Tucker: no, i think that's the right way

     Rusty Tucker: you just have a very big and complex situation to
     deal with

     Bob Wright: so other than ram, what is my limit on the amount of
     realms I can have?

     Rusty Tucker: TF is using the Standard file mechanisms built into
     the OS to pick the files.

     Rusty Tucker: and it does not have an 'multi' selection capability

     Bob Wright: but yet I can choose multi files from the mail list

     Rusty Tucker: you can have any number of realms, memory is the
     only limit

     Rusty Tucker: mail list? that must be a list we did ourselves, not
     an OS list

     Bob Wright: yes, the mail list that is shown from the client. I
     can pick multi files from that

     Rusty Tucker: its a limit of the MacOS std file routines that only
     let you select one file at a time

     Rusty Tucker: I'll keep it in mind for the next rev though... I'd
     just have to replace the OS routine with my own code.

     access to...like HELP. Its rough checking that realm 120 TIMES :)

     Bob Nunn: Greetings. Just got back from our Xmas Dinner. The co.
     fed about 600 people.

     Bob Nunn: My group was in the back of the line.

     Bob Nunn: I was looking at WWWStat4Mac-161 € today. May play with
     it some this weekend assuming I have any time left over after Bell
     South successfully installs my ISDN line today.

     Rusty Tucker: I like Analog, have you tried it?

     Rusty Tucker: its very fast, and makes a good report too

     Bob Nunn: Nope but I was hoping you would say something about what
     package was good. Would like to know what is going on with my web
     server. Apple Scriptable?

     Bob Nunn: Rusty, is analog up or is their a web site that you know
     of?

     Rusty Tucker: I don't know if its scriptable

     Bob Nunn: Well if you can drag and drop your logs to it I can make
     that work okay I think.

     public , needs a lot of work but it does FREAKIN kick.

     Bob Nunn: Thanks I got it and will run look in a bit.

     Rusty Tucker: u can just run it and it automatically processes
     "webserver.log"

     Bob Nunn: Perhaps I can do a detail instructions with screen
     shots, templates etc. I am starting to have a need for it on the
     hobby side.

     Bob Nunn: Sounds ideal since your default is the same name.

     Bob Wright: Is there any reason why Web Stat is SO SLOW on my
     9500? I redo a fresh log every week, but after just one day it
     GRINDS :/

     Bob Nunn: How big is your log. I bet it is sizable?

     Rusty Tucker: web stat is slow compared to analog

     Rusty Tucker: analog processes my file ( usually about 9 Meg ) in
     just several seconds

     Bob Wright: Size should not be an issue since I said I redo it
     every week.

     Bob Nunn: Do you compile the data for a long term look?

     Rusty Tucker: i don't.... i would if i had more time

     Bob Wright: I compile the data for a weekly report by month

     Bob Wright: but it started taking SO LONG that I turned it off

     Bob Nunn: If I can settle on a program, I think I can get Brian to
     automate importing it into FM. He gets off on stuff like that.

     put it up if its not on SI.

     Analog does

     Rusty Tucker: the report just shows 3 days activity since i just
     dumped the old log a couple days ago

     Rusty Tucker: Analog is configured via a text file, there's no
     user interface to it.

     Rusty Tucker: Terry White likes "WWWStatistics"

     Rusty Tucker: It also tracks server start ups

     Bob Wright: RT: any chances of getting remote features like
     disconnecting a user via www in the future?

     Rusty Tucker: -- crxn he's using WWWStat4Mac

     Rusty Tucker: Its possible to hook it up via Frontier or some
     other scripting.

     Rusty Tucker: ^ BW

     Rusty Tucker: Stephen Tallent put together a web control screen
     using Frontier, it would show who's online

     Rusty Tucker: stop and start nodes, a bunch of stuff

     Rusty Tucker: I could never convince him to upload it though :(

     Juan Jose Tarud: mikael...which was the software you use to admin
     from home?

     mikael fredriksson: I use Timbuktu

     Juan Jose Tarud: where can I get it?

     mikael fredriksson: I think they have a Christmas special

     Bob Nunn: Are you on 4.0?

     Donald McHose: Juan ,though I do use TBK2 (4) it does have a bug
     that can crash your server at random times if using pop-up windows

     mikael fredriksson: use 3.0

     mikael fredriksson: I'm using 3.0

     Juan Jose Tarud: with that you can see the serverÇs screen from
     home?

     mikael fredriksson: yes

     Bob Nunn: I have been on 3 for here in the office. Didn't know if
     we needed to upgrade. Seems to work fine. Can't imagine doing it
     via modem though.

     Rusty Tucker: put the screen on B&W :)

     Donald McHose: Works,but the mouse tail trails. ;-)

     mikael fredriksson: then use Rusty's script for macsbug to reboot
     your server when it bombs

     Rusty Tucker: almost lunch time here..

     Juan Jose Tarud: the thing is that I find a little difficult to
     purchase 3.0 if they only sell now 4.0

     Rusty Tucker: any last q's before I run?

     out ? ;)
