OpenScript 1.0.2 from Marco Bambini is an HTTP server plug-in, compatible with W*API 1.1, that allows you to include AppleScript and Frontier commands in your HTML pages. MacCoach 2.0b3 from Neuron Data Systems is a microprocessor-based Apple Desktop Bus (ADB) device that restarts a Macintosh computer whenever it stalls or crashes. BugLink 1.0 from PandaWave is a new bug-tracking system for developers of software for the Mac OS and Microsoft Windows. It consists of a central bug database, a server application, and client software that allows developers and testers to download bug reports. Users can work offline, examining and modifying bugs in their local caches, then upload changes to the central server in a single burst. http://www.pandawave.com
QuickTime 3.0.1 is now posted the QuickTime web site, but there is no need for 3.0 users to upgrade; the only changes occur in the installer, which includes the new QuickTime software distribution agreement for developers, and the QuickTime plug-in, which is less aggressive about displaying the "Get QuickTime 3 Pro" ad.

WebObjects, Apple's premier web application development platform, has been chosen by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to help bring the U.S. military health-care system into the 21st century. The DoD is using the WebObjects-based Clinical Encounter Application as a major component of its new Composite Health Care System (CHCS II).

ClearWay Technologies has announced the release of two free plug-ins for WebSTAR-compatible web servers: ClearWay Simple Cache Manager 2.0 and FireSite SSI_PIXO Adapter 1.0. ClearWay Simple Cache Manager is a WebSTAR plug-in that automatically manages RAM caches. It keeps RAM caches in sync with the latest files on disk. Injection 1.1 from Glucose Development is an upgrade to its popular automatic META tagging tool. Beehive FTP Forms 2.0 from Pine Island Software handles repetitive forms and file transfers over the Internet, a useful capability in the printing and prepress industry. Rumpus 1.2 from Maxum Development is an FTP server for the Mac OS that provides workstation-like levels of performance and reliability. Maxum Development has also announced WebDoubler, a new product that helps systems administrators manage Internet access while accelerating web surfing for an entire workgroup or classroom. This week Griffin Technology announced an iMate USB-to-ADB adapter, which allows users to take advantage of ADB devices on iMac computers. (Users of iMac systems will be limited to the in-box Apple mouse and keyboard.) The iMate adapter opens an entire world of devices to iMac users, including mouse devices, keyboards, trackballs, joysticks, and trackpads.

Apple Developer Connection announces the addition of a "Buy This Product" feature to the Macintosh Products Guide. Effective July 24, developers may list the URLs of sites that electronically distribute their products, including online retail and catalog services, or the developer's own web site. This enhancement to the Macintosh Products Guide provides a more useful resource for end-users and a more effective marketing tool for developers. To take advantage of this great new feature, go to the Macintosh Products Guide web site, click on the Developer Product Submission link at the bottom of the page, and then click on the Update Product link. Best of all, there is no charge for this feature, and you can enter up to twelve URLs.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, a survey of 5,000 public schools has found that 38 percent of new computers ordered for the coming year are Macintosh computers; this represents a 32 percent increase from last year.

Peter Tamte -- formerly executive director of GT Interactive's MacSoft unit, the number-one publisher of Macintosh consumer software -- is joining Apple as senior director of Consumer Marketing.
---------------------------------------- [17] Wells Fargo Renews Support for Macintosh Customers
Wells Fargo has confirmed that it will continue to support its online banking and bill payment service through Intuit's Quicken for Macintosh. Although Wells Fargo had previously said that it would discontinue the service for Macintosh customers (encouraging them instead to do their Internet banking through the company's web site), last week Wells Fargo reversed that decision.

Troi Automatisering announced the availability of three new versions of FileMaker plug-ins: Troi Dialog Plug-in 1.2, Troi Coding Plug-in 1.1.1, and Troi Text Plug-in 1.2. These plug-ins work with FileMaker Pro 4.0 on both the Mac OS and Windows.
Karl Bunker's MultiTimer Pro utility helps you track the time you spend on projects that you perform on Macintosh computers. MultiTimer Pro is useful for web designers, content creators, consultants, and anyone who uses Macintosh computers to keep track of time. Version 3.0 is a "quantum leap" upgrade over the previous release.
