Sounds VERY familiar. I haven't tried IM's (yet) on the Windows side, but I have gone through the scenario described above with the past couple of Win betas. The latest version has seemed more reliable, but still gives me this sequence of events on occasion. Indeed, 10 minutes seems to be the cutoff time!
