Subject: Are there any more DOS upgrades
Date:Fri, February 27, 1998 08:33 PM

Hello all, and Happy New Year.

Not sure if this is the right area to post this, but it seemed as close as any.
A few users on our BBS insist on using their older DOS interface, running comm pgms to dial into our system. My question - they report, and I've checked this out too, that there appears to be a couple limitations:

a) a 50-line limit on email sent out, whether to other BBS users or to Internet users;

b) no way to "attach" or upload a file to non-BBS users. (Is there a way to actually attach a file to a message?)

When I try to upload a file to an Internet address, I get the msg 'Sorry, couldn't find a mailbox for "whatever.COM."'. I remember this being a problem during recent betas of the server software that was cleaned up later. In fact, when trying to send a file to even another user on the same BBS, when their profile is set up to store mail in POP3 format, the same error msg will appear.

I've got v5.1.3a of the server software running, v5.1 of the User Mgr, and v5.1b3 of the mail server. I know these are getting a bit dated already, but I want to find out if these drawbacks in TF's DOS interface are going to be upgraded to match the Windows and Mac interfaces. If anyone has some answers to these questions, or suggestions, I'd be happy to hear from you.

Thanks.
