Onr thing I noticed in the signat file in 3.0B8: it can't be empty, and so as a result, something is always appended to your letter. the software came with a string of letters already entered. You can overwrite these, but if you try to put a string in that is shorter than the string that is there, the ending letters stay

For example--if my signature string was "zippy the pinhead", and I tried to change it to "Dole Man", the result would be "Dole Mane pinhead". The string can get longer, but it can never get shorter.

This problem only exists when you are editing the signature from the SIGNATURE... menu item. It is not a problem when you edit the signat file with a text editor.

However, as alluded to above, when you attempt to remove all characters with a text editor, you get an error message that you have an empty file and the editor refuses to save it--when you try to do thisfrom the SIGNATURE... menu item no changes occur--the roiginal text stays there--BTW, with the text editor, you can save a space and thereby get "signatureless" mail

All this happens on a windows 3.11 machine--I am not certain if it occurs with windows 95.
