I too have had this happen way too often; it only happens with a lot of text and usually when cutting a lot of text at the end. You will seemingly loose a bunch of text at the top, forcing you to save it and reopen it in order to see the top text again.

Like Jim, I consider the problems with the TF's text handling to be very worthy of attention.

I assume the new WASTE engine will also help with the problems with drag & drop within TF text, mail, conference windows. (Tex-Edit uses the WASTE engine and its drag and drop is wonderful). I hate to say it, but the drag & drop in TF's text window's is far and away the worst implementation of drag & drop I have ever experienced. For the most part, IT DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. For sure, you cannot get the window to scroll when you try to drag text. And even when you try to drag text from a viewable area to another viewable area, it doesn't work.

So, if the WASTE engine will also help with the drag & drop problems, I say don't spend ANY time on fixing the old TextEdit code and get that WASTE code implemented ASAP. :) And may the wind be at your back!
