Carl, a day doesn't go by when most of us don't have some of the same problems you are talking about. My MIS department told me they were going to install cat 6 in my department and we were going to a switched hub.
I had to go home and read up to understand what the heck they were talking about. Category 6 is an ethernet wiring specification that is newer and better than Category 5. A switched hub is a better and faster way to handle network traffic in a nutshell. So what they were doing should be better and faster. I would have almost been as happy if they just would have told me we are putting new wiring and boxes in and everything will be better and faster.

I don't think much of the titles but the books are well done. There is a series of books in this group but two in particular may be of interest: Mac for Dummies, Internet for Macs for Dummies (quick reference).
I haven't really seen any of the old buzzword lists of old. None of the titles I recommend cover everything and they are still making up new ones everyday. Hopefully you will find my system library or some of these book titles useful.
