Yes this is precisely the problem I described--one othwer impoirtant point is that these text files behave properly when accessed from a browser (using spml pages to view BBS folders)

I don't see how you could know this. In fact the PC File Mapping is configured as you suggest, at least insofar as I understand your suggestion--is now and always has been--assuming that this always has been the default--for the simple reason that I have never altered it, or viewed it, or even paid attention to its existence. Specifically, the entries are

.TXT TEXT LCLB

If this is incorrect, please let me know. If it is correct then there is some problem elsewhere.

The correct mapping is the one that I have, so it could not have been changed--since it already is (apparently) correct. In addition, the same error occurs on both servers. I think it is unlikely that I would have accidentally changed this setting on one server and virtually impossible that I would have done so on both, unless there is some "land mine" by means of which this can accidentally be changed.

Does this configuration reside in a file? Are there new files which are included with v5.7 which must be resident. The reason I ask this is that all I did was drag the server into my previous folder--I simply continued to use my old configuration files, just as I had done for the 20 or so previous beta versions of 5.7. The change(s) that occurred only occurred since the final release, and did not occur on the beta versions nor (as far as I know) on the various frec versions.
