It's because the File Type of those files is not TEXT.

What happens is, a Windows user uploads a file. Win files do not have MacOS File Type/Creator info associated with them, so TF needs to add some.

It looks up the extension in the Extension Mapping list, and uses the File Type and Creator it finds there.

Therefore, something must be wrong with the mapping list.

Either: the software is not looking it up correctly. If that were the case, you would not be the only person seeing this problem.

Or: the list itself has incorrect data in it.

If this is incorrect, please let me know. If it is correct then there is some problem elsewhere.

That is correct, maybe there is another, incorrect entry?

The correct mapping is the one that I have, so it could not have been changed--since it already is (apparently) correct. In addition, the same error occurs on both servers.

The setting is stored in the TeleFinder Server prefs file, so it would affect -any- tf server you run on that computer.

The change(s) that occurred only occurred since the final release, and did not occur on the beta versions nor (as far as I know) on the various frec versions.

That would be easy enough to test, just by reloading v5.6 for a bit to try it out. I think you'll find that it affects any server you run on that computer.
