Please correct me if I am wrong, but I think the way to test this specific part is to shut down the servers, move the prefs file out of the preferences folder, restart the servers and reconfigure the server settings. As with Jim Leary's problem with the bulleted passwords not being set to cleartext when the resource was changed, the settings file could be corrupt and exhibiting this behavior.
