Revealing Passwords (User Manager)
1. Shut Down the "User Manager" application. 2. Open the "ResEdit" program from the Finder. (If you do not have ResEdit, get it from Apple's Web site) 3. Select and open the "User Manager" program from within Resedit. 4. Select and open the CINT resource. 5. Select and open the CINT 132 resource. It is a flag to set "bullets" for passwords. 6. Change the value of the CINT 132 resource from 1 to 0 to enable display passwords in User Manager 7. Close the CINT132 resource 8. Copy the CINT resource before closing and saving changes (CMD-C). 9. Close and save the "User Manager program." Passwords will now display. 10. DO NOT EXIT RESEDIT YET!
If the "User Manager" program is replaced later the display will revert to bullets. The copy of the CINT resource will now be inserted into the "User Manager Prefs" file to make the changes persist.
1. Choose Open File from the ResEdit program. 2. Using the file broswer, navigate back to the boot drive. 3. Open the "User Manager Prefs" file within the "Preferences" folder within the "System" folder of the boot drive. 4. Paste the CINT Resources (copied using the above procedure) into the "User Manager Preferneces" file. 5. Close and save the changes to the "User Manager Prefs" file. 6. Exit the ResEdit Program. 7. Restart the User Manager Program.
