concerning requests, scope etc--I pretty muchfigured these things weren't global, but i don't understsand how I can know ahead of time when a request ends. you say it is a line in the web log. Does this mean thata ariable dies if, say, I define it and then a gif file is requested? So if I define a variable and then request a gif file, that the variable goes away because the gif file is another request?

That would seem to imply that if you, say put up some text, then defined a variable in an SPML comment, and then asked for a gif file, that you better have all your work on the variable done. It is also not clear to me what dictates the order in which itemsd in a page are processed. If I have rolover buttons, for example, they seem to come up in random fashion.

On the other hand, all this action is happeningin theserver and not the browser and so how many inferences can I draw about the server?

Is it true that variables in SPML are that local--i.e that, for all practical purposes you need to do everything with them within a particular comment and that results would otherwise be unpredictable?
