NT has way more than its share of problems. Microsoft was giving us FREE NT and its stuff. Against my principals not having any good arguement other than I HATE MS...we tried it out. It was horible to try to maintain on an open network. They had memeory leaks that caused it to go blue screen daily-the construction of the interface is bizzare...its implementation of DNS is SLOW...SLOW... and was causing a cascade of requests on our network...it employees proprietary technology that require you to use NT when others do a better job. It requires way more RAM than any other machine on the network...many doing more work than it. We gave up. NT might be fine on an intranet but on the internet it is an unqualified disaster to support. If you're an IT guy that wants job security then I spect its just what you need. But its good for small intranets...the nitch where the Mac is unchallegend. Our Powercomputing 180 603e with 144 megs ram works much harder and is stable. Telefinder has been secure, stable and consistantly serves 30-50000 web pages, 50-100000 emails and 500 bbs logins perday. NT is a looser that counts on its looser status to generate job security and a cottage industry teaching people to keep it limping along. Sorry...been ther done that.

>This is unfair all platforms have there problems I run an NT machine running a virus and content screening program basically because there is no equivalent on the Mac that will scan for Macintosh and PC virus the machine generally runs for months without crashing. Also TF is currently incapable of handling Digitally Signed messages as it appears to re-write the headers which appears to break the rules I'm sure this will only be tempory as Digital Signitures take off more and more. As with most computer platforms most problems are with drivers or extensions sometimes old sometimes badly written.
