I had similar problem with both a 7100/80 mac and a Packard Bell 204CD with Hayes Accura 144 Fax modems.

The solution was to go to the modem settings and select the 'change modem' settings and then select a baud rate one higher or one lower (which ever is closest to your actual modem's baud rate) and try again. If that doesn't work, try the next higher or lower baud rate, etc..

The problem appears to be that some modems can not accept a baud rate setting of certain values and will return an error code (maybe??) and it appears that the TF user program does not pick up that error to inform the user that he/she must select a different baud setting. Then when you try to tell TF to connect, it sets up the modem with incorrect values and the modem doesn't know what to do.

Let me know if any of you who read this have had similar problems and if so, let me know if this works. If it does we should contact Rusty and let him know...

I would also like to know for my own benifit in case a similar situation occurs for me again.

Ken.....
