For about the last week, I have been unable to raise MacMedia (Australia);
Xenon (Arizona); and even Dan at KloneZone (technically Texas, but Dan has a World of His Own ;-).

There have been other minor interrupts of several smaller TeleFinder BBSs on the net as well. But these guys (above) are all large BBSs, with lots of regular members (including myself ;-). I'm even getting my internet mail, to these destinations returned (with the headers showing it has made quite a trip!)

My system is here, and I saw you log in yesterday. I was trying to tell you to log out because of thunderstorms but could not before we lost power. As for inability to log in otherwise, I would suggest a performing traceroute and/or ping to systems you are having difficulties with. On my end, I can tell you that there have been times when I cannot get reliable connections to any hosts on the west coast either. File transfers fail and I get sporadically disconnected.

Open Transport does NOT allow servers to re-establish a connection when such interruptions occur (the way MacTCP did) without quitting and relaunching ALL TCP-based servers, so neither you nor anyone else can get through once this happens. Such disconnection is a frequent occurance with PPP, therfore, expect this to continue until I and other sysops gets scripts built to quit and relaunch our servers when TCP connections are disrupted.

a 200Mhz 603e processor as used in the Apple Performa (home user systems) outperforms
a Pentium 200Mhz by 80%.
a 200Mhz 603e processor outperforms a Pentium Pro 200Mhz by 40%.
a 200Mhz PowerPC 604e processor outperforms a Pentium 200Mhz system by 125% and a
Pentium Pro 200Mhz system by 80%.
