You evidently don't have your modem set up properly or it wouldn't leave it in screeching mode. You failed to mention any particulars that would allow anyone to help you. What type of Mac are you on, what OS version, what modem type, baud rate etc. You might also mention what version of Telefinder you are using and what modem settings you have tried. If you can help us with a few things like that we perhaps can help you.
