That's exactly what we tried- and much to the amusement of our main Network guru, IT Manager, and Senior IT Tecnician, it simply doesn't work.
This is a very pressing problem for us and we were threatened with blacklisting of our mailserver as part of anti-spamming rules here. The only way that we have been able to sort this problem out is to route the mail via a UNIX box which is protected by a firewall. Other TF users might not have this option and could well find themselves on the list of blocked mailservers.
