Subject: Wild card domain problem

I have run into an unusual glitch with Mail Server (5.6), possibly a bug, that I would like others to verify.

My bbs domain is phoney.com. Other than tfnet.org mail, all other email sent from phoney.com to a NON phoney.com domain gets sent out by the smtp client (which is correct), EXCEPT for mail sent to username@xphoney.com, where x is any letter or letters.

If joe@phoney.com (a tf user) tries to email to moe@telephoney.com, it will be delivered instead to moe@phoney.com, if there happens to be a moe in User Manager, which is wrong. If moe isn't in User Manager, the email will be rejected by Mail Server without ever getting off the local server (i.e., Mail Server's SMTP client doesn't even try to deliver to my ISP's SMTP Server to find telephoney.com).

One would think that I have telephoney.com set as one of my local domains in Mail Server's Server Identity dialog box. I don't, and what's more, as I said before, ANY letter or letters in front of my domain causes the same problem, such as notaphoney, isaphoney, etc.

Please send email from your bbs account to validusername@xxxyourbbsdomain.com and invalidusername@xxxyourbbsdomain.com and see what Mail Server does with it.

Sincerely,
davidsonm@phoney.com
