Another surprise--maybe yes maybe no--I don't know--seems as though version 4 pf tfuser for windows supports the new chat rooms but version 3.1 does not. However version 4 does not run on WIN3.1 machines--is this true--is this still another "new feature" that I have to "deal with"? If it is true then anyone who uses WIN3.1 is out of luck--or more precisely, there is still another constituency of customers to whom I must explain why the wonderful software they are using is really wonderful and that they are just to stupid and retrograde to appreciate its transcendental beauty.
I could tell them to use the terminal interface but--I guess that doesn't support chat either. That battle was lost years ago.
I suppose I need an attitude re-adjustment but right now I am going through a "phase"--it comes on me now and then and applies to a much larger world than Spider Island. I just get tired of shelling out money to computer people, be they Apple, Macrogreedia, Microsoft, the turkeys who are providing my school with "network solutions", Iomega, wholesalers who lose my orders, anyone who tells me that I don't want what I want but I really want something else, and, last but not least, anyone who says "we don't support that" (this is the favorite line of our network people--that could = macs,telnetting--basically they don't support anything--what the hell do they do with their time?). Periodically I ask myself, why am I paying any of these people money? Why aren't they paying me money?
