Dan:

We aren't using FreePPP, we have a 64K dedicated ISDN connection. I confirm your finding on the FreePPP, and it even works with FreePPP 2.5.2 and OT/PPP 1.0.1, however, it is unstable for us.

We are running a very stable and very clean system, with hardly any extensions and certainly nothing corrupt. NNTP Sucker locks up tighter than a drum when it is launched a SECOND time. It works fine the first time. We've tried all different kinds of configurations. The problem is related to OT 1.1.1 and higher, as confirmed by the author of the software.

I have offered the author of NNTP Sucker lots of money for the rights, a license, or the source code, all of which was turned down. However, email from Chris Silverberg indicates that NNTP gateway capabilities, a la NNTP Sucker is slated to be included in the Mail Server, but it is just a matter of when they can get around to it. For my user group, it won't be soon enough. Hear that guys??? Please get around to it ASAP.

Thanks.

Matt
