The "it works fine the first time but fails the second time" means that after initial install or subsequent reinstall, and then the first run of the application after configuring, everything works as it should. It will not run a second or subsequent time. If we rip it all out, install a fresh copy of the software and reconfigure, again it will work the first run and then not at all.
We tried everything. We stripped the system clean and ran it without anything. We reinstalled a virgin system and tried it, it still didn't work. We didn't have the Serial Port Arbitrator or OT SPA running and it still wouldn't work. We could get it to work with Classic Networking just fine but we want to stay with OT because it is more robust.
I corresponded extensively with the author of NNTP Sucker and he informed us that it is not designed to work with OT1.1.1 or above. It works in Classic Networking compatibility mode with OT 1.1 but that's it. I tried to buy the product from him, license the source code, etc., but he wouldn't go for it. That's when Jim Smith took pity on us and started writing Lollipop.
I've given up on NNTP Sucker. I vote for Lollipop and will wait for Jim to add posting features, or, for Spider Island to add NNTP import/export to TF5.
