Most of the phones in our school are the standard dial out, one phone on one line variety--however I have just come across someone who needs to connect a modem to a line which serves a phone with more than one

Her modem doesn't seem to work with this--it can't get a dial tone--it clicks but there is no dial tone afterwards--a standard analog telphone when connected to this line also obtains no dial tone. Only her special phone which has buttons for two diiferent lines is able to get this tone.

So is there an answer to this? A psecial modem? A command to the modem we currently have? A special connector/ A left handed smoke shifter? I'd appreciate any help you could give.
