Dear Courier Owner:

x2 updates for Courier analog modems are here!

Upgrading your Courier modem to x2 is a simple two step process.
First, you need to update your modem firmware to the x2 release.
Second, you need to enable the x2 security key on your modem.

The quickest and easiest way to access the Courier x2 firmware is
from our TOTALservice Online web site, at
http://totalservice.usr.com. It is best to download the firmware
from USR in order to ensure the integrity of the firmware. If you
have not yet registered at the site, please take a moment to
complete the user registration screen. If you prefer, you can
also enter the site as a guest. After registering, following the
instructions on the main display to guide you to the location of
the Courier analog x2 firmware files.

If you prefer, you can also download Courier x2 firmware from a
Bulletin Board System (BBS). The BBS telephone number for this
purpose is 847-982-5092. Please login as X2 COURIER.

The file you download from the TOTALservice Online web site or
BBS will be a self-extracting zip file. Due to the complexity
of the code USR has included the Release notes which are
included in the zipped file. It is highly suggested that prior
to flashing the modem each customer read the notes. One of the
resulting files when you complete the extraction will be an
executable file (file ending with .exe). Launch this
executable file from DOS to begin installing the new firmware
on your Courier modem. To enable the x2 security feature,
please dial 888-877-9249, and login as X2 UPGRADE. This will
automatically send you to the x2 registration application. You
will be prompted to enter your x2 Enable Key. After entry of
the key, the system will interact with your modem to configure
the x2 security feature.

After successfully completing these steps, you will need to reset
your modem by turning it off, waiting a few seconds, then turning
the modem on again. At this point if a ATI7 is sent to the modem
from a Terminal Program it will show X2 as enabled.

If you did not receive an x2 enable key with this message, or if
your enable key is rejected by the system, please call
888-USR-XTWO for assistance.
