The Motorala 3400 is a very popular modem in the UK all of our users use the Motorala Power set at 230.4K, Hardware Handshake, The Wake-Up is AT&D0\V2\X1%L2, and Initialization is ATS0=0 this works with no problems uploading or downloading with a high sustained rate.

If you still get problems and are using these settings first look at the clients cable to the modem if it is only a problem with this client. The cable MUST be wired correctly as per the TF Manual, as ZModem/TF does not support XON/XOFF flow control. After this check the server end is it correct even if it works with other modems is it because this modem is faster and overflows quicker.

Basically the machine/Modem needs some means to stop the flow of data before its buffer overflows it does this via extra wire connections between the Modem and Mac. The Macs connector is very funny and it is very possible that even a pre-made up lead could be wrong (Getting rarer now though) and only support Software Flow control XON/XOFF
