...but we do have such a card (HDS) installed...it's a <soft> problem (!), how can we select a higher speed than 57'600 bps, the highest selectable DTE speed option within TF Server 4.x?

You have got a solution in TF Pro 2.2.4 in conjunction with "SerialSpeed 230"...
