I am confused by this part of your statement:

HDS mail is a Web server plug-in which does not directly interface with TeleFinder GUI clients. Do you mean downloading PPT file attachments from HDS mail using a web browser?

I am trying to collect some data here to see if I can get help for you and others who are experiencing problems with the plugin, such as Gary Clarke, even though I am not familiar with its inner workings. Here are some things you may want to check out:

1. Is the file naming affected by the type of email account the user has: regular vs POP3?

2. Is the file named and filetyped correctly after the upload is complete and it is in the Mail Server's Mailbox (TFNet and locally uploaded files) or the Gateway spool folder (files from the other networks)?

3. Is the fileis named and filetyped correctly after the file has been transferred from the Mail Server's Mailbox (or Gateway Spool folder for your SMTP gateway) to the destination user's Mailbox?

4. What happens when you just drop a file into the users mailbox from the Finder on the server, and subsequently attempt to download it via the TF/User clients, via a POP3 session, and via the plug-in?

5. How is your filetype mapping set up in TF Server and in PC/File exchange?

(I know that TF Server uses the types in its "handlers" in preference to those set up elsewhere, but I am uncertain about what the plugin does, if anything.)

6. Online Assistant for TeleFinder can perform some mail processing functions, but I do not think that it attempts to perform any kind of translation on the mail files.
