Subject: MacKennel Problems
Date:Wed, July 14, 1999 03:06 PM

I have recently discovered some problems with my own system and was wondering if anyone else has encountered them.

It appears that MacKennel is either not creating import format files from fidonet, or it is not deleting the packet files after importing them. Last night I had over 60 .pkt files in my systems "packets" folder. I attemped to manually import them into messages. MacKennel's log window indicated that the pkt files were processed, faster than normal, I might add. I looked in the folder and the pkt files were still there. I quit MK, and relaunched it and tried the manual import again. This time most, but no all of the of the packet files dissapeared during processing. Two more quit/restart.manual imports later, I finally had cleared the packet folder of these files.

I also noticed that some of the messages have "strange" names when TeleFinder Mail Server processes them into Message areas. Normally, they have the name of the user and date, or the name of the system and date. These "strange messages" have a long numerical name that is not the fidonet node address nor a user name, but rather appear to begin with the year. Ocassionally I will respond to messages aor mail and notice that the reply to address appears similar to this - It has the users's name correct, but the address is not in the correct form - it looks like a long number beginning with the year.

Has anyone else seen these? Are the problems related????
