It appears to function ok, until something happens to corrupt the file.

I have discovered that the System 7.5 installer and subsequent updaters fail to work properly when the system is booted from MacOS 9. I was confounded for over 12 hours this weekend by bizzare failures of the installers/updaters when trying to bring some Mac LC II's up to 7.5.5. The installer refused to complete the installations, reporting errors in the about the same location each time. The failures occured when running the installer from hard disk file as well as from the CD media. If you chose to re-attempt the installation/update, and manually bypass the alleged "bad file" via the "custom installation" option, the installation would procede, but eventually encounter additional "bad files." Installing components one at a time did not completely work either - some were just not installable. When I switched the boot disk to 8.5 from another HD, or 7.5 from a CD and rebooted, the installations proceded without incident.
