OK-- one more FReC release with the expiration date bumped out to Nov. 22. Version 5.7 is basically done, but there are some loose ends to wrap up before I can release it. Here's how the current plan stacks up.
- The v5.7 announcement will go out tomorrow. - Finalize the docs by Wednesday. - Wrap up the CD layout by Thursday. - Generate the new reg codes and put the final, full v5.7 package online Friday.
As usual, the upgrade to 5.7 is free to those who purchased v5.6 outright, or purchased an upgrade to v5.6. Those who purchased v5.5 or earlier will need to pony up the $150 for 5.7, so nothing new there. Everytime I get a lot of questions that go like "Well, I have v5.6 now, so I get a free upgrade, right?" Maybe. Most people using v5.6 got it as a free upgrade from v5.5. So you got your freebie already, and its time to pay again.
If you are one of those, then the v5.7 upgrade is $150. Only if you actually bought 5.6, or an upgrade to it, is it free to download. Please let me know if this does not make sense to you. I know. The new TF Server and Mail Server will expire on Nov. 22, 1998, and are online now in the Beta Spider Wares folder. These Final Release Candidates will still accept the v5.6 serial number and reg code. The final versions that I put online friday will need a new reg code.
