Code Red versions I and II and Nimda Worms Blocked and logged. The currently variants of these Windows-specific worms have no effect on this system, other than consuming network bandwidth, and processing power to dispose of the requests, and log the attacks. A set of 4 particularly active hosts in one domain were blocked from accessing this system, when they were responsible for over 9000 hits on the site. The block was implemented as a TCP/IP filter in the router feeding the network at this site.
These attacks are now being automatically logged separately from other errors and a web page has been developed and made available to view the current log. The administration here finds this most entertaining. The log can be found at the following URL:

Operating Sytem Changes: MacOS 9.2 was installed on 10-4-2001. This upgrade required that non-Mac OS X programs, like all the BBS software, be relocated into a "Applications (Mac OS 9) folder for compatibility with Mac OS X. The BBS Mail folders, Web Server and Mail Server configuration Files , and Default new user directories within the User Manager Program were modified, along with all Access Group configurations, Fidonet Mailer configuration to reflect the new locations.
The new operating system is not compatible with the software drivers for the QuickCam camera on the website, so the webcam has been disabled until replacement sopftware can be found. The new OS appears to cause lock-up and crash problems for the "Suzie" statistics generating software. Until Suzie can be recompiled, it too has been disabled. Please notify the administration if problems are experienced accessing and using the system.
