When you say the CDs you are given to study are "PC only" could you elaborate on this? Do these CDs contain things that normally open in such as Microsoft Office? If so they would open in the Macintosh version of Microsoft Office. A possible option is to install CrossOver which will run a great many PC apps directly on the Mac without the need for any version of Windows.
