Yes you can, but why would you? You'd still need the OS X DVD so that you could get the drivers for the various Apple devices on the system, including but not limited to:
networking (both Ethernet and wireless) Bluetooth audio the iSight camera the special keys on the keyboard the buttons on the Mighty Mouse
