Thanks for the suggestion, and for not calling me a moron, like
weedhopper. I remember good teachers saying, when I was in school,
"There's no such thing as a stupid question." These forums are for
learning, and calling someone a moron doesn't help at all. I'm not a
clueless button pusher. That RAM that I tried is perfectly fine. It's
now back in my G4 Sawtooth (same RAM that the eMac 700 takes) and the
Sawtooth is humming along just fine with it. The eMac was having a
problem before I added the RAM. It was just a matter of time before it
croaked (at least I think the logic board croaked, which seems to be a
pretty common problem with the early eMacs, according to many forums
I've read since I got this eMac). Unfortunately I don't think it's worth
buying a new logic board for such an old machine.
