I've had lots of trouble burning ISO images of MacOS CD's on PCs WHEN
CD BURNERS were used and they were read on old (pre-g3) computers.

There is a "rule of thumb" I use to never burn a CD faster than it will
be read.

HOWEVER, I have not had a single problem burning CD images on PC's using a
DVD burner. The higher accuracy needed to burn a DVD is what does the trick.

I have had boot problems with PC CD-ROM and DVD drives being put into
a Mac that could not support it, but that is a different issue.

To go back to the original topic, if the drive is working properly,
your CRT iMac should boot any CD fine. If it was never used for OSX
before, you should boot an OS9 disk and install the firmware updates
BEFORE you install OSX.

Geoff.
