Due to a corrupted partition, I'm unable to boot any verison of the Mac
OS later than 8.0. I need to finish using Linux to backup some data
prior to reformatting and fixing the drive.

Until then, I used the original RestoreCD to put system 7.6.1 back on
the computer. Now however, I've found that the remote control for the TV
tuner does not work. Is this a System 7.6 problem, or a sign that
something else is wrong? I tried changing the batteries to no avail. If
I need to copy an extension, which extensions should I extract from the
old (but still there, as I installed this on another partition) OS 8.6
install?

Oh, I'm using a powermac 6500/250. The previous installation was Mac oS
8.6. I do plan to restore it to that condition after I format the hard
drive, but I probably won't get to fixing it until either this weekend
or next weekend, and I'd like to have the TV and remote working in the
meen time.
